Come learn more about our upcoming embedded trip to Lithuania and Latvia! At this information session, we will discuss cost subsidies, funding opportunities, registration requirements, and the itinerary of the trip.
Students enrolled in HIST/JST 426 The Holocaust will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of key issues surrounding the Holocaust through visiting historical sites in Latvia and Lithuania during spring break.
The program will begin in Riga, the capital of Latvia. We will visit several former killing sites and museums that deal with the history of the Holocaust in Riga. The third day will be a road trip from Riga to Lithuania. We will stop in a few places to look at synagogues that survived the destruction and at a notorious killing site on the outskirts of Kaunas. We will spend three days in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius to visit the site of the former ghetto, the Jewish museum, the Jewish book collection at the National Library and the memorial at the killing site in Ponary. The program will include most meals, accommodations and transportation, except for the transatlantic flight.
