Nominated for five academy awards, The Zone of Interest tells the story of Rudolf Höss, the commandant of Auschwitz, and his wife Hedwig as they strive to build a dream life for their family in a house and garden next to the camp. The Höss’ lavishly subsidized tenancy juxtaposes a bucolic Aryan fantasy with the nightmarish realities on which it has (literally) been built.
Our screen of the film will be followed by a short panel discussion and Q&A with Penn State professors who specialize in film production and the history of the Holocaust.
