Biography:

Svetlana Myagkova is a Ph.D. student in German Literature and Visual Studies. Before joining Penn State, she worked as a language instructor for English, German, and Russian at various educational institutions. Her research lies at the intersection of contemporary German literature, visual studies, and memory studies. She explores German-speaking authors with migratory background, in particular Soviet and Russian Jews, and analyzes what images, inserted or described, they use in their works and how these visual materials connect their family history to the history of the Eastern European Holocaust.
