Biography:

Rob Jones received a doctoral degree in religious studies in 2020 from McMaster University. He specializes in the Jewish languages, literature, and history of the Persian and Hellenistic periods, with a particular focus on the Aramaic Dead Sea Scrolls and their socio-historical context. His first book, accepted for publication in Brill’s STDJ series, analyzes how the priesthood, sacrificial cult, and temple are represented in the Aramaic Dead Sea Scrolls. During his time at Penn State, Rob will be working on postdoctoral project, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) of Canada. His project will demonstrate how the Aramaic Dead Sea Scrolls can contribute to scholarly understandings of early apocalyptic literature and its social location.
